ABSTRACT

Maintenance hemodialysis patients need to return to hospital 3 times a week for routine hemodialysis treatment. In the case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and regional lockdown, a set of management systems and standardizations has been established in our hemodialysis center, including forward movement of the critical nodes of treatment, specialists pooling program for hemodialysis technology, and dynamic bubble personnel management, to implement dynamic prevention and control strategies, precise management of inpatient wards and closed-loop management of outbreaks. While improving the management of our own hemodialysis center, it is recommended to strengthen multi-center collaboration to build a municipal grid management system for hemodialysis and explore different dialysis strategies for end-stage renal disease to meet the treatment needs and safety management of maintenance hemodialysis patients in lockdown areas under the epidemic.Copyright © 2022, Second Military Medical University Press. ABSTRACT

Theft is an inevitable problem in the context of urbanization and poses a challenge to people's lives and social stability. The study of theft and criminal behavior using spatiotemporal, big, demographic, and neighborhood data is important for guiding security prevention and control. In this study, we analyzed the theft frequency and location characteristics of the study area through mathematical statistics and hot spot analysis methods to discover the spatiotemporal divergence characteristics of theft in the study area during the pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 periods. We detected the spatial variation pattern of the regression coefficients of the local areas of thefts in Haining City by modeling the influencing factors using the geographically weighted regression (GWR) analysis method. The results explained the relationship between theft and the influencing factors and showed that the regression coefficients had both positive and negative values in the pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 periods, indicating that the spatial distribution of theft in urban areas of Haining City was not smooth. Factors related to life and work indicated densely populated areas had increased theft, and theft was negatively correlated with factors related to COVID-19. The other influencing factors were different in terms of their spatial distributions. Therefore, in terms of police prevention and control, video surveillance and police patrols need to be deployed in a focused manner to increase their inhibiting effect on theft according to the different effects of influencing factors during the pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 periods.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Drawing on Schumpeter's theory of innovation and stereotype content model, this study aims to arrive at an integrated model that relates destination innovation type, destination innovativeness and revisit intention to uncover more about the drivers and outcomes of destination innovativeness from a consumer-centric perspective. Design/methodology/approach: Three studies, including content analysis of news media, an onsite survey and an online survey in Chinese special featured towns, were conducted. Findings: This study develops a consumer-centric destination innovation measure. The results reveal that input innovation and product innovation positively influence revisit intention through the serial mediation of destination innovativeness and perceived competence. Research limitations/implications: As the data was collected from tourists in China, any generalization of the results to other regions should be made with caution;accordingly, replication is needed to test the proposed model in different cultural contexts. Second, during the onsite data collection period, special featured town destinations were still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have affected the perceptions of tourists. Third, the second round of data was collected using an online survey, which may have introduced bias due to a potential lack of representativeness. Fourth, some potential missing variables could also influence the links among innovation, destination innovativeness and revisit intention. Originality/value: This study presents the first empirical test of the impact of innovation type and innovativeness on tourists' response to tourism destinations. The results of this study could guide destinations to deliver more effective consumer-centric innovations to generate competitiveness. © 2022, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

The development of a community express delivery system in the context of COVID-19 reduces the risk of virus infection for people in the community who go out to pick up their deliveries, which highlights the benefits of "contactless delivery”. The system is developed using a separate development method for the front-end and back-end. The mobile end in the front end uses the WeChat applet, and the Web end uses the Vue framework for development. The back-end server is developed in Java and designed with a MySQL database. This system contributes to the community residents' courier delivery challenges. © 2022 SPIE.

ABSTRACT

Since the COVID-19 outbreaks, masks have become one of the most controversial topics throughout the world. However, the pro-mask atmosphere seems to be formed smoothly in China, at least in the beginning and peak of epidemic. To understand the social construction of masks in China, this study examines the media framing of masks from 2001 to 2020 in two important newspapers, the People's Daily and the Southern Metropolis Daily. We found that pro-mask discourse portrayed wearing masks first as an emergent and undesired health strategy;later, as an inevitable measure against constant crises;and lastly, part of the new normality. The legalization of wearing masks lies in the severity of a certain health crisis, the effectiveness that masks can protect citizens from such crisis, a comparatively low cost that to exchange for normal lives under a crisis, and the fact that it could overall benefit China's national image and interests. Moreover, masks have been constructed as a financially promising business and a trendy fashion, which further justifies their existence. The counterdiscourses against masks appeared when the conditions that justified masks were questioned. © 2023 (Zhifei Mao, Huaxin Peng, Di Wang, Mengfan He, and Kun Zhou). ABSTRACT

Objectives: Since the COVID-19 first emerged in Wuhan China at the end of 2019, it has spread to more than 200 countries and territories around the world. China was the first country to report COVID-19 cases and to impose strict lockdown, quarantine and outdoor restrictions. This research aims to investigate and describe the health status of Chinese people during this pandemic. Methods: An online questionnaire survey was distributed via the WeChat platform to Chinese mainland citizens living in Hubei (the lockdown province) and outside Hubei between February and March 2020, and to Chinese citizens living abroad between mid-March and April 2020. EQ-5D-5L was used to describe individuals’ health status by constructing a five-dimension health profile with a visual analog scale (EQ-VAS) score. Respondents’ sociodemographic information was also collected. Results: A total number of 993 respondents were recruited in this study. Respondents of the current survey reported worse health status compared with EQ-5D data in previous Chinese National Health Services Surveys. Respondents were more likely to report mental health problems than physical health problems. Among respondents living in their home country, people living in Hubei province reported worse health status than respondents living outside Hubei, in terms of the likelihood of having any problems in all EQ-5D dimensions and mean VAS scores. Health status of overseas respondents was reported to be even worse than that of Hubei respondents. Conclusions: EQ-5D-5L was found to be useful to describe health status in the COVID-19 pandemic. It was clear that the pandemic as well as strict lockdown policies affected Chinese people’s health both physically and mentally. Chinese people residing abroad were found to be in a worse situation than Chinese people residing home. This may be because overseas Chinese were not only afraid of COVID-19, but also felt isolated and sometimes being discriminated against in foreign counties.
